12 Hatch
ZvPThe greediest standard ZvP opening — a hatchery at the natural expansion at 12 supply, before the spawning pool is even started. This gives Zerg the fastest possible two-base economy, allowing rapid drone production to pull ahead in workers and establish map control through sheer numbers.
The spawning pool follows immediately after the hatchery. Your first zerglings come late, so you rely on the distance between bases and drone micro to survive any early aggression. If Protoss sends a probe to scout early, a well-timed drone pull can chase it away, but against committed two-gate zealot rushes, this build is genuinely risky.
Best used on maps with easy-to-defend naturals and long rush distances, where zealots take time to arrive. Transition into standard lair tech — typically mutalisks or hydralisk/lurker depending on what Protoss builds. Weak against two-gate zealot pressure, cannon rushes at the natural, and any early aggression that arrives before the spawning pool finishes and zerglings hatch.
